Despite the backlash over accusations that Barneys New York racially profiled two customers, Jay Z’s partnership with the retailer continues. According to WWD, when the Jay-curated “A New York Holiday” collection launches in late November, the hip-hop mogul will also debut his first fragrance, dubbed “Gold.”
Reports say Jay rejected 3,200 names before settling on Gold, picking up one of the bottles saying, “This is the sh**; it’s gold.”
He partnered with Firmenich perfumer Ilias Ermenidis to create the fragrance, who says it will “capture the vibrant ambitious part of Jay Z’s charismatic persona and his effortless style”.
Jay Z’s Gold fragrance will be available in three different-sized bottles, ranging from $39 to $70, when it launches at Barneys New York on Nov. 20th. Then, will release at 2,000-plus department stores on Black Friday, November 29th.
